| We’ve
just learned that the House is expected to vote today on an Agriculture
Appropriations Amendment that would prohibit the slaughter of all horses,
wild or domestic. This is not the same amendment that was voted on last
week. This is the amendment that passed overwhelmingly last year in both
the House and the Senate, only to have the USDA find a loophole in the
new law.
This time our champions in Congress have refined the language to prevent
the slaughter industry and the USDA from once again skirting the will
of the Congress and the American people. Please take a moment and call
your Representative in the House right now. The vote is today. You can
be directly connected to your Rep by calling the Capitol Switchboard at
(202) 224-3121 and giving your zip code. Ask him or her to support the
“Sweeney-Spratt-Rahall-Whitfield Agriculture Appropriations
Amendment”.
We are on the cusp of closing the doors of the brutal horse slaughter
industry. We cannot let up until it is done! Please be a voice for our
wild and domestic equines now.
