Sponsorships provide the foundation of support for the animals at Return to Freedom.

By becoming a sponsor, you can establish a personal connection with Return to Freedom through a particular burro, horse or herd that resides at the Sanctuary. With your pledge, you assure that the animal(s) you sponsor will be fed and cared for, for one year. In return, you will receive a certificate with the photo of your new friend…along with the satisfaction that you are participating directly in his, or her, care.

We have a number of sponsorships available:

• The basic sponsorship that feeds one horse or burro
• Sponsoring a bonded herd family
• Sponsoring a rare breed in our Preservation Program

Sponsor a Herd Family

Return to Freedom is unique in that every horse that is rescued from public lands is relocated with its entire natural herd family intact. As result, horses seldom arrive one at time…they arrive as families.

We have a number of herd families residing with us. Typically herds total five horses, although they sometimes include more. Regardless of the herd size, we make herd sponsorship programs available for $225 a month to those who believe, as we do, that wild horses deserve to remain within their bonded groups.

Sponsor a Horse in Our Preservation Program

We also have a number of horses residing at the Sanctuary that have been proven, through DNA testing, to be genetically rare breeds. To preserve and protect their pure blood lines, we control the breeding of the horses in our Preservation Program to assure that these unique animals are not at risk of disappearing forever.

The care and maintenance of the horses in our Preservation Program are significantly greater than for the other wild horse at the Sanctuary. Because their breeding is controlled, they require unique and ongoing supplementation and veterinary care.

In order to continue this valuable work, we need your help. Please consider becoming a sponsor for a horse in our Preservation Program and pledge your support of $125 a month, or $1,500 for the year.
