Rescues
Sir George
Sir George is a proud stallion that ruled over public lands in Nevada for 20 years. Prior to his arrival at Return to Freedom, he was captured in an emergency roundup and destined to be gelded and live out his life in a small corral at a holding facility in Oklahoma.
Sir George literally asked to be rescued. Screaming at the top of his lungs, he ran from a group of horses and showed the number on his neck tag so he could be identified. Understanding what he wanted, George was loaded on a trailer later that day and brought to Return to Freedom.
When the trailer door opened, he blasted out as if he'd been shot by a cannon. He ran to the top of the hill, and let out a whinny that could be heard throughout the valley. He seemed to say, "I'm home!"
George has become close with two colts and now serves as both their mentor and friend. We look forward to the day when George will be selected by a mare to begin a new family.
