Return to Freedom offers a variety of volunteer oppportunities. You can lend a hand for a couple of hours, join us for a volunteer work day, camp out with your family for a volunteer work weekend or live on site. Whatever your availability, interest and talent we are happy to have you as part of our volunteer team at the Return to Freedom Wild Horse Sanctuary.
Work Study Program
If you are interested in wild horse herd behaviors and social dynamics, observing how wild herds interact with one another in a natural state, or learning about the gentling process of horses never before touched by human hands, this is the work study program for you. Participate in the every day activities of running a wild horse sanctuary — plus a whole lot more.
We recommend all new volunteers start their journey with us by attending one of our volunteer orientation days scheduled on the second Saturday of every month. These days begin at 10am with a short orientation before tackling various projects around the ranch. We enjoy a long lunch together and a complimentary tour is given at the end of the day as a thank you for your much appreciated efforts.
Volunteer BBQ Campouts
During the summer months we often have volunteer weekend campouts. These are particuarily fun for families and large groups. You take part in a regular volunteer day which is finished off with a BBQ and socializing around the campfire in the evening. On Sunday morning, children are often invited to help with the morning feeding and other chores before everyone packs up and leaves around 1pm.
